Tuesday, July 15, 2008 I don't know why this song has been on my heart/mind the last week or so. I am posting it here, to share. . . . I do not have a STD, have no interest in having one. But as the song suggests, it only takes one encounter, one time, one person to change your life. . . forever. Wikipedia Says: A 1994 song from American Country music artist Reba McEntire. Upon its release, the song gained media attention and controversy for being the first country music song to address the subject of AIDS. 'She Thinks his name was John' Sung by Reba McEntire She can account for all of the men in her past Where they are now, who they married, how many kids they have She knew their backgrounds, family and friends A few she even talks to now and then But there is one she cant put her finger on There is one who never leaves her thoughts And she thinks his name was John A chance meeting, a party a few years back Broad shoulders and blue eyes, his hair was so black He was a friend of a friend you could say She let his smile just sweep her away And in her heart she knew it was wrong But too much wine and she left his bed at dawn And she thinks his name was John Now each day is one day thats left in her life She wont know love, have a marriage or sing lullabies She lays all alone and cries herself to sleep cause she let a stranger kill her hopes and her dreams And all her friends say what a pity what a loss And in the end when she was barely hanging on All she could say is she thinks his name was John Labels: cross-posted, Dear Diary, Guys, lyrics Wednesday, March 05, 2008 This song has so much truth to it... Sometimes it feels this way. Different Truck, Same Loser Sung by~ The Wreckers She'd rather be with the wrong man than no man at all Just a couple of skipped heart beats and she's ready to fall. she's intelligent, intuitive, with common sense until it comes to men here comes her next fiasco and here we go again Different truck, same loser Different Face, same shooter A leaver or a booser a cheater or a user if there's one in fifty miles he'll end up in her couch same road no future different truck same loser well he'll break her heart and she'll cry where have all the good ones gone then over look and angel to take the devil home if he's arrogant, copendent, baggage written short on cash she's in you can bet yourself you'll get a call to meet her new boyfriend Different truck, same loser Different Face, same shooter A leaver or a booser a cheater or a user if there's one in fifty miles he'll end up in her couch same road no future different truck same loser (loser) Different truck, same loser Different Face, same shooter A leaver or a booser a cheater or a user if there's one in fifty miles he'll end up on our bus same road no future different truck same loser same road no future different truck same loser Thursday, November 08, 2007 I got an email from someone I used to date and he told me that he heard this song and thought of me! I looked up the lyrics and thought I would post the ones he emailed to me, and ... well I'm taking this as a compliment! The song is 'How Bout them Cowgirls' and its sung by George Strait. haha no I'm not a cowgirl, I'm not crazy about horses. Boy, she don't need you and she don't need me She can do just fine on her own two feet But she wants a man who wants her to be herself And she'll never change, don't know how to hide Her stubborn will or her fightin' side But you treat her right and she'll love you like no on else Yeah, how 'bout them cowgirls Boys ain't they somethin' Sure some are proud girls But you can't beat their lovin' And I'll tell you right now girls May just be seven wonders of this big, old round world But how 'bout them cowgirls How 'bout them boy I may not be a cowgirl but I sure do love Cowboys!!! ![]() Labels: lyrics Tuesday, November 06, 2007 I heard my sister talking about this song but didn't give it another thought, and earlier this evening I heard it on the radio. I had to pull over, I couldn't see for the tears. All I could think of was my Grandmother... the strongest woman I have ever known. Tough Sung by Craig Morgan She’s in the kitchen at the crack of dawn Tuesday, October 30, 2007 This song really speaks to me, I would like to think that I am as strong in my convictions as this song suggests. Love Me If You Can Lyrics ~Sung by Toby Keith Every night I pray for peace on Earth I hand out my dollars to the homeless But believe that every able soul should work My father gave me my shotgun That I'll hand down to my son Try to teach him everything it means I'm a man of my convictions Call me wrong Call me right But I bring my better angels to every fight. You may not like where I'm goin' But you sure know where I stand Hate me if you want to Love me if you can I stand by my right to speak freely But I worry 'bout what kids learn from TV And before all of debating turns to angry words and hate Sometimes we should just agree to disagree And I believe that Jesus Looks down here and sees us If you ask him he would say I'm a man of my convictions Call me wrong Call me right But I bring my better angels to every fight. You may not like where I'm goin' But you sure know where I stand Hate me if you want to Love me if you can I'm a man of my convictions Call me wrong Call me right But I bring my better angels to every fight. You may not like where I'm goin' But you sure know where I stand Hate me if you want to Love me if you can Labels: lyrics Friday, October 19, 2007 ![]() Not that long time ago, I also sought out pain because it was easier than dealing with everything I had going on, everything I had been through, and everything I was heading towards. Would I be a different person now if I had found an alternate outlet for those emotions? Definitely, but... I wouldn't change one day of my past because I like who I am in the present. Thought I would post this song, because we all need to remember who we were so we will know who we are now. I really like how these lyrics word it, it really does come down to which do you love more? Him or yourself? "Me" Sung by ~ Tamia -verse- Love was a former owner, but quiet is renting our house It seizes my lips from speaking, but forms a sarcastic smile Suspense now raised one of your eyebrows You ask me if there's someone else I replied yes, hell yes You asked me if it's another man, I said no You laughed and say is it a woman, I say yeah Surprisingly you asked for honey's name -chorus- And her name is me, And she loves me more than you'll ever know And I finally see that loving you and loving me Just don't seem to work at all So patiently, she's waiting on me to tell you That she needs love And to choose between you two, boy you know If I have to choose, I choose me -verse- And she told me to tell you to never to hurt me again Cuz if you haven't heard she's a bad chick Even though I haven't been, no Yet and still you try and test me by raisin' an angery hand Put it down, put it down I'm leaving don't try and stop me, (no) I'm late and she is waiting, (yes) My love for me is too much so I can't stay -chorus- And her name is me, And she loves me more than you'll ever know And I finally see that loving you and me Just don't seem to work at all So patiently, she's waiting on me to tell you That she needs love And to choose between you two, boy you know If I have to choose, I choose me Cuz she's actually formin' a threesome And I'm happy that I can join them, and There names are me, myself and I -chorus- And her name is me, She loves me more than you'll ever know I finally see that loving you and loving me Just don't seem to work work at all So patiently, she's waiting on me to tell you That she needs love, And to choose between you two, boy you know If I have to choose, I choose me She's waiting on me to tell you that she needs love, Gotta choose between you two, and you know And if I have to choose, I choose me, me, I gotta go with me Thursday, July 12, 2007 I was working at someone at work was humming the song Mickey by B-Witched. Anyway that was a couple hours ago and this part is really sticking in my head: 'Cause when you say you will, it always means you won't You're givin' me the chills, baby, please baby don't Every night you still leave me all alone, Mickey Oh Mickey, what a pity you don't understand You take me by the heart when you take me by the hand Oh Mickey, you're so pretty, can't you understand It's guys like you Mickey Oh, what you do Mickey, do Mickey Don't break my heart, Mickey Maybe I'm spending a little too much time in reflection... And something about this picture, fits it. ![]() Escape (Pina Colada Song) Sung by: Rubert Holmes I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long. Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song. So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed. And in the personals column, there was this letter I read: "If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain. If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape. I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape." I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean. But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine. So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad. And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad. "Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne. I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape. At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape." So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place. I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face. It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you." And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew".. "That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne. If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape. You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape." "If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain. If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape. You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape." Settlin' Sung by: Sugarland Fifteen minutes left to throw me together For Mr. Right Now, not Mr. Forever Don't know why I even try when I know how it ends Lookin' like another, "Maybe we can be friends." I've been leaving it up to fate It's my life so it's mine to make Chorus: I ain't settlin' For just getting by I've had enough so-so For the rest of my life Tired of shooting too low So raise the bar high "Just enough," ain't enough this time I ain't settlin' for anything less than everything With some good red wine And my brand new shoes Gonna dance a blue streak around my living room Take a chance on love, and try how it feels With my heart wide open Yeah, you know I will Find what it means to be the girl Who changed her mind And changed the world Repeat chorus I ain't settlin' For just getting by I've had enough so-so For the rest of my life Tired of shooting too low So raise the bar high "Just enough," ain't enough this time I ain't settlin' For just getting by I've had enough so-so For the rest of my life Tired of shooting too low So raise the bar high I ain't settlin' No, no, no, no, no, no So raise the bar high, high Labels: lyrics Tuesday, May 22, 2007 ![]() Yet another fun song for this beautiful spring day. Inspired by a new friend named Neil, thanks for getting this song in my head ;) It's Five O'clock Somewhere Sung by ~ Alan Jackson with Jimmy Buffet The sun is hot and that old clock is movin' slow, An' so am I. Work day passes like molasses in wintertime, But it's July. I'm gettin' paid by the hour, an' older by the minute. My boss just pushed me over the limit. I'd like to call him somethin', I think I'll just call it a day. Pour me somethin' tall an' strong, Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane. It's only half-past twelve but I don't care. It's five o'clock somewhere. Oh, this lunch break is gonna take all afternoon, An' half the night. Tomorrow mornin', I know there'll be hell to pay, Hey, but that's all right. I ain't had a day off now in over a year. Our Jamaican vacation's gonna start right here. Hit the 'phones for me, You can tell 'em I just sailed away. An' pour me somethin' tall an' strong, Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane. It's only half-past twelve but I don't care. It's five o'clock somewhere. I could pay off my tab, pour myself in a cab, An' be back to work before two. At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder, What would Jimmy Buffet do? Funny you should ask that because I'd say: Pour me somethin' tall an' strong, Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane. It's only half-past twelve but I don't care. Pour me somethin' tall an' strong, Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane. It's only half-past twelve but I don't care. He don't care. I don't care. It's five o'clock somewhere. But the type of men who are interested in me are usually like the ones described in this song. I have to say, these types of guys are a lot of fun!! :) There is something sexy about a hard working small town guy who is good with his hands... my favorite part of the song is "I don't like to fight, But I ain't scared to bleed" because I definitely don't like pretty little momma-boys!! Don't get me wrong, I like for a guy to take care of his Mom and respect her, but not be so attached that she has to go on the date with us! Yes I've been in these kinds of relationships before, its not that I'm really thinking about those today but... I can't get this song out of my mind. Cut my hair the way you wanted Watched you become important Quit my job to make our new home far away Now you're Mr. Successful and I'm queen of the treadmill Trying to stay the size you think that I should stay I used to dream about what I would be Last night I dreamed about a washing machine I keep giving But I can't stop living A woman needs a little something of her own I like happy endings I don't like depending I keep right on pretending But I can't do that anymore Now you say I'm being silly But you don't know me really You never take the time to ask me how I feel I keep the check book balanced I decorate your palace You know I used to think that you were king Somewhere down deep I know you really love me But you can't see that what we have's not all I need I keep giving But I can't stop living A woman needs a little something of her own I like happy endings I don't like depending I keep right on pretending But I can't do that anymore You try to tell me I'm not being fair to you But life's too short for a selfish attitude I keep giving But I can't stop living A woman needs a little something of her own I like happy endings I don't like depending I keep right on pretending But I can't do that anymore Labels: lyrics Tuesday, May 01, 2007 Things have been kind of difficult for me the last couple weeks, physically I've been not up to par and emotionally I have felt the consequences. I am starting to feel more like 'myself' and this morning I heard this song on the radio. It gave me a good feeling and I felt uplifted, so I am posting the lyrics here. "Stand" by Rascal Flatts You feel like a candle in a hurricane Just like a picture with a broken frame Alone and helpless like you’ve lost your fight But you’ll be alright, you’ll be alright Chorus Cause when push comes to shove You taste what you’re made of You might bend ‘til you break Cause it’s all you can take On your knees you look up Decide you’ve had enough You get mad, you get strong Wipe your hands, shake it off Then you stand, then you stand Life’s like a novel with the end ripped out The edge of canyon with only one way down Take what you’re given before it’s gone And start holdin’ on, keep holdin’ on Repeat Chorus Every time you get up and get back in the race One more small piece of you starts to fall into place – yeah Repeat Chorus Yeah, then you stand – yeah Yeah, Baby WOO HOO, WOO HOO, WOO HOO- Then you stand – Yeah, Yeah Labels: lyrics Thursday, April 19, 2007 Dear Diary, I've always had a sexual response to the rain... something about it is calming, yet freeing at the same time... rhythmic sound of the rain hitting that old tin roof, echoes the racing of my heart... the light caress of the drops against my heated flesh, much like the teasing tongue of a lover... the rolling thunder fills my thoughts, much like his voice would command my responses... flash of lightening mimics the way it feels when his grasp tightens against my curves... Its been raining off and on the last couple days, of course I feel it deep in my soul... its cleansing and refreshing at the same time. I always feel better during the rain, after the rain, those first minutes when the rain is stopping and the air is still heavy with moisture, thick against my cheeks.. my Kenny sings a song about this, which instantly struck that familiar chords within me... I wanted to share some of the lyrics here. Yes my Kenny is country but the song has a .. jazzy feel to it. I love this whole tropical themed CD by my Kenny, its definitely my favorite of his work. There's Something Sexy About the Rain by Kenny Chesney There's something sexy about the rain She said as it came pouring down It feels like kisses on my skin She spread her arms and spun around In a summer island storm In a field of sugarcane She taught me how and showed me why Labels: Dear Diary, lyrics Wednesday, April 11, 2007 I went through a phase in college where I really got into techno dance style music. This song, when sang normally, didn't do much for me. However I found a remix version to a techno dance beat and it speaks wonders! Either that or I have realized that I have built those walls around myself and my heart (like she speaks of in the song) to protect myself ~ but am seeing that it is only keeping me from not only finding love but also being open to accepting it. Miss independent ~Kelly Clarkson Miss independent Miss self-sufficient Miss keep your distance, mmmm Miss unafraid Miss out of my way Miss don't let a man interfere, no Miss on her own Miss almost grown Miss never let a man help her off her throne So, by keeping her heart protected She'll never, ever feel rejected Little miss apprehensive Said ooh, she fell in love (Chorus) What is this feeling taking over? Thinking no one could open the door Surprise, it's time, to feel what's real What happened to miss independent's no longer need to be defensive? Goodbye, old you, when love, is true (Verse 2) Misguided heart Miss play it smart Miss if you wanna use that line, you better not start, no But she miscalculated She didn't wanna end up jaded And this miss decided not to miss out on true love So, by changing a misconception She went in a new direction And found inside, she felt a connection She fell in love (Chorus) What is this feeling taking over? Thinking no one could open the door Surprise, it's time, to feel what's real What happened to miss independent's no longer need to be defensive? Goodbye, old you, when love, is true (when love, is true) (Bridge) When miss independent walked away No time for love that came her way She looked in the mirror and thought today What happened to miss no longer afraid? It took some time for her to see How beautiful love could truly be No more talk of why can't that be me I'm so glad I've finally seen (Chorus) What is this feeling taking over? Thinking no one could open the door Surprise, it's time, to feel what's real What happened to miss independent's no longer need to be defensive? Goodbye, old you, when love, is true (when love, is true) Labels: lyrics Saturday, December 30, 2006 based loosely on 'Taming of the Shrew', by William Shakespeare I've seen it a couple times, but this time the movie affected me. Part of me wants to roll my eyes at another teenage-girl ugly-duckling-turned-princess chick-flick. Kat's character was physically pretty but emotionally unattractive, very angry and fiercely independent-- until the end of the movie of course. :) And wouldn't you know it, that handsome delicious Heath Ledger was the one to get through to her with his bad-boy self. Anyway, I like the way that his character was (eventually) able to see through her facade and actually see her... not just her anger and pain, but who she truly was. Here's the part that got to me the most, its Kat's poem at the end of the movie. I hate the way you talk to me And the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots And the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick. It even makes me rhyme. I hate it... I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh; Even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around And the fact that you didn't call, But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you; Not even close; Not even a little bit; Not even at all. Here are a couple lyrics from the movie that touched me. You laugh, you cry, no one knows why Behold the thrill of it all... You're on the ride You might as well Open your eyes You will fly and you will crawl; God knows even angels fall. No such thing as you lost it all. God knows even angels fall. Artist: Jessica Riddle Song: Even Angels Fall Feeling guilty, And I'm worried, and I'm waking from a tormented sleep 'Cause this old love, you know it has me bound, But this new love cuts so deep. If I choose now, I'm bound to lose out; One of you is gonna have to fall... I need you, baby. Why do you come here, when you know I've got troubles enough? Why do you call me, when you know I can't answer the phone? And make me lie when I don't want to, And make someone else some kind of an unknowing fool? Make me stay when I should not? If you're so strong then resolve the weakness in me. Why do you come here, and pretend to be just passing by? I need to see you - I need to hold you - tightly. Artist: Joan Armatrading Song: The Weakness on Me I want you to want me I need you to need me I'd love you to love me I'm beggin' you to beg me I want you to want me I need you to need me I'd love you to love me I'll shine up my old brown shoes Put on a brand new shirt Get home early from work If you say that you love me Artist: Letters to Cleo Song: I Want You to Want Me Labels: lyrics, movies, quotes Tuesday, December 05, 2006 I like this song, but not necessarily from a romantic relationship standpoint but more from a best friend point of view. I heard the song today while I was driving home and thought of Asrai. I am so thankful for her compassion, and her friendship. She always knows what to say to bring me back to reality and she understands what I'm going through... Which means she knows how to comfort me, help me think through different issues, and everything. She's my best friend. I love you Asrai :) (In a different way than this song suggests though. haha) You Save Me Sung by Kenny Chesney Every now and then I get a little lost The strings all get tangled The wires all get crossed Every now and then I’m right upon the edge Danglin’ my toes out over the ledge I just thank God you’re here ['Cause] when I’m a bullet shot out of a gun ['Cause] when I’m a firecracker comin’ undone When I’m a fugitive ready to run All wild-eyed and crazy No matter where my reckless soul takes me Baby you save me It’s hard lovin’ a man That’s got a gypsy soul I don’t know how you do it I’m not sure how you know The perfect thing to say To save me from myself You’re the angel that believes in me Like nobody else And I thank God you do Well I know I don’t tell you nearly enough I couldn’t live one day without your love When I’m a ship tossed around on the waves Up on a high wire that’s ready to break When I’ve had just about all I can take Baby, you, Baby you save me Labels: lyrics
